Oar painting

Tanya and Molly have gone off to the library, and since it’s a cold and rainy day, I thought it would be a good time to do a little indoor work on boat stuff. We hand sanded the oars the other day, so today it’s priming day. Fiona helped me get a coat of Kilz indoor/outdoor latex primer on one side. We’ll wait until it dries in an hour and do the other side as well. I’m planning to have the girls decorate the oars with paint markers or something similar and then coat them with varnish for a final finish.

Unfinished handles are supposed to be the easiest on the hands for rowing, so no paint or varnish there.
