Leeboard support

Got a bunch of little stuff done on the boat tonight. First I sanded down the fiberglass wrap on the mast. Then I added the support on the inside of the boat for the leeboard. I cut the hole in the leeboard to get it ready for lead. Then I opened up the mast partner a little bit so the mast would slide in a bit more easily. I got a little aggressive on the sanding and it got a bit looser than I planned, but that’s okay. Finally Fiona and I did a little sailing in the driveway.

I mixed up a bit too much epoxy for the mast wrap last night. I just left the remainder in the plastic mixing cup. Epoxy is an exothermic reaction and the more epoxy there is the hotter it gets. The little bit left in the cup got hot enough to start to melt the plastic.

Tomorrow night I’ll putty up the holes from the screws in the leeboard and rudder support and a few other little spots and then everything will be ready for painting this weekend.
