Many thanks to my friend Matt Z for making me a new boom for the Terror of the Sea. Matt graciously laminated up a 4 piece SYP boom for me with alternating grain for a lot more strength than my old 1″ white pine boom. Then we ran it through his planer, jointer and router and ended up with a square straight boom with nicely rounded corners. Top that off with holes drilled on the drill press and we’re ready to sail. I gave it a quick sanding and threw a coat of marine wood finish on it. One more coat and we’ll tie on the sail and be ready to go. Time to come down with the flu and be out of work for a few days because the temps are in the 70s and the wind is supposed to be blowing 10mph. Sounds just about perfect.
