Last time Matt and I were out in the 20 mph wind day on Falls Lake, I discovered it’s very difficult to thread a rope through the reefing points in the sail while in the middle of the lake. To remedy this I cut small pieces of rope then taped and burned the ends.
I tied a knot just shy of the middle point. Then I threaded them through the reefing grommets and tied a matching knot on the other side. Reefing should go much quicker next time.
I’m doing lots of prep work for a weekend camping trip to Cape Lookout a week from now. The plan is to drive down early Sat morning and launch from Harkers Island. A few hours of sailing/paddling with both boats should get us out into the bight. Set up camp and then maybe paddle back to the lighthouse, or maybe just dig in the sand. Either way it should be a great trip.
